Team Photography here at The Open Window is über happy to inform you that three of our photography students will be representing The Open Window at a “Student Stand-off” photography competition held at the Photo & Film Expo in JHB tomorrow (18 October) where we will compete against 3 other photography colleges.  The students will be shooting bridal fashion portraiture in a studio at the expo, and they only have 90 minutes each to shoot images and edit the best selected image!
We wish Karl van Heerden (Honours student - Photography), Nadine van Driel (Third year Photography Major) and Werner Buitendag (Second year Photography Major) all the best for tomorrow’s competition and know that they are Open Window’s photography ambassadors.  A panel of judges will select the best image this coming Sunday.  Of course it will be a great feather in our cap to bring back the grand prize, but the opportunity of competing in this Student Stand-off is already in itself a great honour for us.
Good luck Karl, Nadine and Werner!

ckck:

Here’s a fantastic little documentary from 1958 about (and with) Ansel Adams. It’s so refreshing to see a documentary about a legendary photographer that they’re actually a part of (rather than one with a bunch of talking heads reminiscing about the past). Check this out to see Adams out in the field, in his own darkroom and in his own words. Part 2 is here.

check this out photogs!  super exciting new full-frame 35mm d-slr from nikon, at a more reasonable cost for a student budget.
